We are Tasmanian pilgrims on a journey to Madrid, Spain for the massive celebrations of World Youth Day 2011 and we want to share this journey with you online! We hope to have frequent updates of our adventures (and a few photos too) during our time overseas, so that all our family, friends, supporters and the whole Catholic Tasmanian Community can share this wonderful experience with us. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we make this significant, faith-filled pilgrimage!

Commissioning
On the weekend of 18th/19th June our pilgrims gathered for a retreat at Sacred Heart College. This was the final time our group woould gather as one statewide group before we all meet up again in Melbourne on our way to Europe!
As part of the weekend our Tassie Pilgrims received a commissioning from Archbishop Adrian Doyle at Mass on Sunday 19th June at St. Mary's Cathedral as we are about to set out on our journey. Pilgrims also received four symbols of pilgrimage: Reg our trusty Pilgrim Staff, a scallop shell (a traditional symbol of pilgrimage), a Tasmanian and an Australian flag - presented by Scott Bacon MP.
